Calll for Papers: Mediterranean Solidarity. International Aid Between Southern European Countries (1945-1990)

The Cold War Research Network is proud to support the Mediterranean Solidarity, call for papers initiative coordinated by Dr. Martin Baumeister (German Historical Institute in Rome), Dr. Kalliopi Geronymaki (University of Florence), and Dr. Silvia Salvatici (University of Florence).

The core objective of this call for papers is to analyse how humanitarian and international aid programmes relieved the regions which operated in specific critical circumstances (natural disasters, conflicts, and economic crises) and to examine the political, economic, and cultural reasons for intra-Southern Mediterranean solidarity from the aftermath of World War II to the end of the Cold War.

The deadline for submitting a 300-word abstract and a short CV is the 31st of March, 2023.

The conference will take place on the 30-31 of May 2023 at the University of Florence, Italy.
